Cell Phone Recycling Week

Did you know that April 5-11 is National Cell Phone Recycling Week? I didn't until today, but I thought I would pass along some information about it. You've heard it before, but every phone counts. Recycling one cell phone saves enough energy to power a laptop for 44 hours. Wow!

You can always recycle cell phones for free at the Hennepin County Recycling Center at 8100 Jefferson Hwy. in Brooklyn Park.

The Environmental Protection Agency has more information on cell phone recycling opportunities as well at: http://www.epa.gov/cellphones

Will we be able to recycle cell phones (and CFL's for that matter) at the upcoming Special Materials Drop-Off Day?

Yes, residents can recycle cell phones for free at our Special Material Drop-off event, but unfortunetely we can not take CFL's. The event is Sat. April 24th from 8a.m. to 3 p.m. at 8300 Noble Ave N in Brooklyn Park.

CFL's can be recycled for free at Menards, Home Depot or the Hennepin County recycling center at 8100 Jefferson Hwy. in Brooklyn Park.

Will they take the cell phone accessories (chargers, etc) at the event?

I keep forgetting about dropping the CFL's off at Home Depot and Menards.
